Whereas, for Dynamo, the European season has very much come to an end, Beşiktaş will aim to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League for the first time in history. The Turks must win their last match in Kyiv if they want to be 100% sure of advancing to the next round.

A draw would only see them through if Napoli lose their final match against Benfica. With Dynamo Kyiv already eliminated from the competition, it now appears to be an easy route through for Beşiktaş, especially given the fact that Dynamo will be playing the all-Ukrainian Derby against Shakhtar Donetsk on Monday December 12.

Yet, Dynamo will have almost a week to recover for the derby against Shakhtar, and Rebrov could indeed find that the match against Beşiktaş is a good test to prepare for what will be a heated affair against Shakhtar. It can therefore be expected that Rebrov will field a squad not too dissimilar to his starting eleven for the big derby.

Dynamo also have their pride on the line, and they will likely want to go out of the group phase with a good result. Then there is also the fact that UEFA awards the victor of any group stage match with €1.5 million, which is a decent sum of money that Dynamo could use in the winter to make much needed investments in the squad. This means, for Beşiktaş, that the match is anything but a foregone conclusion.

Dynamo Kyiv vs Beşiktaş – Players to look out for:

The eyes will always be on Andriy Yarmolenko wherever Dynamo Kyiv play. The forward has recently surpassed club legend, Andriy Shevchenko, and has moved into third place in all time scoring for Dynamo Kyiv. With the winter break approaching, and the transfer window opening on January 1, Yarmolenko will likely, once again, be linked with numerous clubs in Western Europe. Dynamo have recently promoted Viktor Tsygankov, a promising winger, from the youth side, and he plays on the same position, as Yarmolenko, and also seem a good fit if Dynamo’s ownership finally decides to sell Yarmolenko.
